Topic: Lean Management Structure: What is it?  How to create it?

As organizations work on the implementation of lean principles they often focus on training and implementation of lean tools inside current management structures.  In this MLC Coffee Chat we will explore attributes of a management structure that supports a lean culture using the lean transformation of Herman Miller, from a conventional manufacturer to a Toyota Production System lean showcase, as an example.  We will discuss specific strategies that can be implemented to achieve sustainable success.

Presenter:

Raymond Muscat | Principal, AlaKrity Lean Group, LLC and Muscat Consulting, LLC 

Ray serves as a Principal, AlaKrity Lean Group, LLC, which conducts Rapid Plant Assessment Workshops and Principal of Muscat Consulting, LLC, a Lean Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations and Executive Coaching consulting firm.

Ray also serves as a lecturer in the Department of Industrial and Operations Engineering at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor MI.  He has also served as the Industry Director for the Tauber Institute for Global Operations at the University of Michigan, from 2015-2022 where he was responsible for the development of industry partnerships with world class organizations who are interested in the development of the next generation of operations leaders. 

Ray's corporate career spanned over 37 years with a variety of global experiences in the Automotive, Defense Electronics, Aerospace and Office Furniture industries. His experience includes engineering, manufacturing, program management, global manufacturing strategy development and execution, and the implementation of the Toyota Production System/Lean Manufacturing principles under the tutelage of the Toyota Supplier Support Center, at Herman Miller from 1996-2015.

Ray has a BSE in Industrial and Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the University of Rhode Island.

    Cancellations

    We understand that plans change. In the event you are unable to attend an event, refunds will be issued in full for cancellation refund requests received in writing via the admin@michiganlean.org email at least seven (7) days before the event. Refunds will not be issued when less than a seven (7) day notice is provided. After submitting your cancellation refund request via email, please allow up to ten (10) business days for your refund to be processed. If the event is rescheduled, all purchases will be honored for the rescheduled event date. If the event is cancelled, all purchases will be refunded in full.
